I wish we never stole the lands from the Indians I wish we never made the black man slaves
Yes, as much as I love America, our freedom’s got a few stains
I could do without Hollywood, yes Wall St. and L.A.
And though it’s written “In God We Trust” on the dollar
Sometimes it feels like it’s to the dollar, we pray

I’d like to forget the Civil War, segregation & Viet Nam
Yes, before we start preaching to the rest of the world
Best we remember from where we’ve come
There’s a gap between the rich & poor
Don’t know if that’s a bridge that can be crossed today
And the middle-class are drowning down a river
On the bills they can barely pay
In America…red, white &……..blue

But I was born with freedom in my veins
And yes, I wear this with pride
Never to take it for granted
In a world where evil & persecution have thrived
