Finally Free

She waited until he fell asleep tonight.

Packed up the kids and grabbed a few things

and snuck away in the night.

Nobody could tell her that she never tried

with all her might

to make things right.

But too many bruises and broken promises

had took a toll on her life.

And driving away she thought to herself

as she cried …..

“I’m finally free!

I’m gonna fly to the sky.

Disappear out of sight.

She knew her would try as soon as he woke

to track them down.

He’d start with the neighbours and call up the folks

and search the whole damned town.

But she knew that this time

she’d hide in a place where she’d never be found,

‘cause too many years of pain and tears

were more than she could take.

And never again would she ever repeat the past mistakes.
