Johnny's Grave

In a '67 Chevy, he made his get away.

After Jennifer Johnson accused him of rape.

He made it to Kentucky where he was held down by a flood.

His wheels just spinning in 20 inches of mud.

Now, Mama grab my gun and stand out of my way

Johnny took my little sister's innocence away

And I swear as I stand here this very day

I'm gonna see Johnny's Grave

Yes, I'm gonna see Johnny's Grave

It was somewhere out by Mount Vernon, Illinois

I found him at the place he was employed

But he saw me first as I walked thru the door.

And with a tire iron, he laid me out, on the floor

So I followed him through Kansas into the Colorado snow,

Then I missed him up in Laramie, by about a day or so,

But I caught him on that Utah mountainside,

That's when Johnny realized . . . He had to die.

He begged for my forgiveness when I showed him my gun

He tried and tried to tell me that he was not the one

But I swear as i stood there my mama's only son,

I said, Johnny, you know you're the one. . .

Johnny, what have you done

Now, Mama grab my gun and stand out of my way

Johnny took my little sister's innocence away

And I swear as I stand here this very day

I'm gonna see Johnny's Grave

Yes, I'm gonna see Johnny's Grave
