Night Watch
Written and Copyrighted by Bob Thomas
It’s late at night
I’m garden the herd
Out on the prairie
No other person to say a word
The noise of the herd
Keeps me company
Coyotes howlen
Want to steal a cow from me
Just my presents
Keep them coyotes away
I grab my guitar
And I begin to play
Solo
The stars in the sky
Help show mw the way
A star shoots on by me
Lights the night like the day or but the herd is ok
The moon lights the night
Times rolling slow
How many hours
I really don’t know
I’m tired and weary
And cold to the bone
Watching them cattle
Just me all alone
Solo
I ride here alone
keep myself awake
It’s been a long wait
Until then day break
I’m done with the night watch
It’s the start of another day
Got to get the herd moving
And we’re on our way.
Got to get the herd moving
And we’re on our way.
