Princess of the Nile

Princess Of The Nile

Princess of the Nile with your magic menagerie.

The song of your serpent is very familiar to me

And the sunlight at midnight shining on your apple

Reminds me of centuries past remembering

When we were both children and the Earth was our sandbox

Somewhere I knew you before

Somewhere I can't quite recall

Somewhere before Yesterday

And two is one and one is all

Weather beaten stone guards your castle by day

But your faithful manservant gave him the night for his key

And your dogs knew the magic in the step of his sandal

And the passage grew brighter as he held up his love

And you were both children and the sea was your cradle

Somewhere he knew you before

Somewhere he can't quite recall

Somewhere before Yesterday

And two is one and one is all

Phantoms on the wall stand refusing to die

In the silent holy rooms where your ancestor's ancestors lie

And you hold their future in the crook of your elbow,

As you take him for your lover in the light of the moon,

And the children he gives you will have the sky for their ceiling

Somewhere you knew him before

Somewhere you can't quite recall

Somewhere before Yesterday

And two is one and one is all

Your Abyssinian cat, standing there millennium high,

With silent tall knowing scarab green vertical eyes

And reflections inside your dazzling jewels

Seem dull after standing beside your complexion

And all the nomads in the world are your children

Somewhere you knew them before

Somewhere you can't quite recall

Somewhere before Yesterday

And two is one and one is all,

two is one and one is all

Music And Words by D. S. Crawford

* I transcribed the lyrics by mostly listening since the lyrics from the CD are really small. Then I strained my eyes to find out as much as I could. The two differences are that I capitalized "Abyssinian" since the spell check indicated that it should be capitalized and at the end I added one more "two is one and one is all" since he adds it on the record though it is not on the CD lyric page.
