I was resting again
The leaves were restless again
They’re my only friends
No matter where they’ve been
I just need a place to sleep
A place to take me in

I play em on the corner at dawn
Whichever sidewalk I’m on

So I don’t sleep on the lawn
Last night I slept in a big yellow taxi
My imagination told me I was in the back seat

Even though I had clothes, I froze
Even my jacket was cold
So flick a couple nickels my way
I will get the pecking away
A couple licks I can play
And now you’re fixing to pay
But everybody’s cheap
And now I’m sleeping in my taxi today
