A Broken Memory Lyrics

Dance
Darling, don't shuffle
The strangest smile
A silent tongue
Beneath the dust
Despair pots the woman I was
I will contain you
Then cast you away
Like a broken memory
When all your fears
Run on together
I will contain you
Then cast you away
Like a broken memoryTime is fleeting
Tell me true not to leave
My word is my bond
I will contain you
So dance

Darling don't shuffle
The stranger smile
A silent tongue
Beneath the dust
Despair back to youAll is calm
Nothing is right

Cold Specks is 23-year-old Al Spx from Etobicoke, Canada, who now lives in London. Cold Specks' music is steeped in the musical traditions of the Deep South. No wonder then that Al cites the Lomax Field Recordings and James Carr as influences along with Bill Callahan and Tom Waits. With a voice that evokes the 'spirit feel' of Mahalia Jackson and the visceral tones of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Cold Specks' sparse arrangements and chaingang rhythms stop you dead in your tracks.
