A Far Cry from Here Lyrics

I've heard misfortune losses
And wasted ways before me by the costs
Of givin' someone time enough for spendin'
Love only borrowedAnd I've placed myself at ease
Listenin' to the lies of self-belief
For wantin' somethin' close enough for keepin'
A far cry from hereBut I believe in ways than these
Speakin' of the dear who has been spared
Innocence so near
A far cry from hereEven still, the night is passin'
Behind a heart an emptiness still follows
Distance dams the swallow's hard from lendin'
Love only borrowedBut I believe in ways than these
Speakin' of the dear who has been spared
Innocence so near
A far cry from hereSome are sad but true to know
There's belongin' in just longin' for someone
My shoulder rests a road I only follow

Love only borrowedBut I believe in ways than these
Speakin' of the dear who has been spared
Innocence so near
A far cry from here
A far cry from here
A far cry from here

Enjoy the lyrics !!!

Malcolm Holcombe is an American acoustic / folk musician based in North Carolina. Try as you might to use other adjectives, when you write about Holcombe and his work, you always come back to rugged and rustic. His visage appears to be carved of granite, and his voice is a sculpture crafted of tree bark and discarded railroad iron. His words and images cling to you for hours, even days, like wood smoke. His is a sound that combines harmonica-blessed folk, acoustic blues, stringband country, and smalltown-bred soul.
