A Great Fire Lyrics

Burning down, we can't stop it
We gotta get out, start again
Our memories are gone foreverDon't try to turn this around on me
I'm the one that saved you
This was my own, this was my life
It's not always just about youAnd as I heard the sirens begin to chime
I can feel my heart begin to raceI can see through the flames
That the fire cleanses me
Mind and soul, now the same
And my body guides the wayI feel you up on my shoulder
Like the angel, like my other
I'm not your hero, I'll never be what you wanted
What you thought I would beI can see through the flames
That the fire cleanses me
Mind and soul, now the same
And my body guides the wayI can see through my tired eyes
My sickness controls me
Deep inside, [Incomprehensible]

Is the mother of deceitAnd there you were, six years old
Ashes in your hair, you're not scaredYou've seen so much pain in so few years
As the world becomes a place
Where no one wants to stay
We remain silent until it's too lateAnd as I see the flames that go in the sky
I can feel it coming to the endI can see through the flames
That the fire cleanses me
Mind and soul, now the same
And my body guides the wayI can see through my tired eyes
My sickness controls me
Deep inside, [Incomprehensible]
Is the mother of deceit

Silverstein is a 5-piece rock band from Burlington, Ontario, Canada; formed in 2000. The band name was taken from the famous children's author Shel Silverstein. After several lineup changes, the band acquired Billy Hamilton, a local fan who learned of the band's need for a bassist on the Internet message board "The 905 Board" (an Ontario area outreach board which used to be for local musicians). In Christmas of 2001, he joined the band after Shane Told helped him learn the music for the songs. Following a rehearsal on Boxing Day (December 26) in 2001, he officially debuted with Silverstein.
