A Link In the Chain Lyrics

In a dream I saw you taking control
Treading lightly upon my soul
It's the pain that makes me want to call your name
When I wake up to another day
I know you're just a drop in the sea
Airplanes keep flying over me
Everyday I wonder when you'll come and go
It's nothing that I need to knowThere's no confusion and there is no eye
For nowhere to look for me to go
I'll change the words
The chariot to carry me home
I'll welcome you to look inside
A link in the chain
A thousand waves
A link in the chainThe reception in a comfortable place
Just a ripple in empty space
The fatigue on trying to close another door
That's a feeling that I had beforeThere's no confusion and there is no eye

For nowhere to look for me to go
I'll change the words
The chariot to carry me home
I'll welcome you to look inside
A link in the chain
A thousand waves
A link in the chainThe reception in a comfortable place
Just a ripple in empty space
The fatigue on trying to close another door
That's a feeling that I had before
I know you're just a drop in the sea
Airplanes keep flying over me
Everyday I wonder when you'll come and go
It's nothing that I need to know

Polvo is an influential noise rock band of the 1990s from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA. The band was fronted by guitarists/vocalists Ash Bowie and Dave Brylawski. Eddie Watkins played drums, and Steve Popson played bass guitar. The band reformed in 2008 with Brian Quast assuming drum duties. Their sound is defined by complex and dissonant guitar harmonies and driving rhythm, complementing cryptic, often surrealist lyrics. Their music was considered unpredictable and angular and sometimes the guitarists were accused of failing to play with correctly tuned guitars.
