A Little Too Far Lyrics

Do you remember? Look at me
At all the things we said we'd be
We'd beat the house, we'd push the odds
We'd take it all, we had the cardsWith years to burn and years to trash
Livin' life based on flash
But somehow reaching for the stars
I think we went a bit too farGotta get back, gotta get back, gotta get back
I never meant to take it this far
Gotta get back, gotta get back, gotta get backWhen everything you touch turns gold
Can weigh you down, can make you old
When metal doesn't ring the same
Reaction from inside your brainAnd all the years we offered up
To gods who couldn't get enough
Though we still stay up all night
The mornings aren't quite as brightGotta get back, gotta get back, gotta get back
I never meant to take it this far
Gotta get back, gotta get back, gotta get backAnd all those things we thought we learned
As we watch our bridges burn

While standing in the afterglow
I guess we gave them quite a showAnd who's to say what it's about
When John Wayne caught the last train out
And Spock and Kirk had enough
And no one's left to beam me upGotta get back, gotta get back, gotta get back
I never meant to take it this far
Gotta get back, gotta get back, gotta get backI never meant to take it this far
Yeah, oh ho
I never meant to take it this far

Savatage is a heavy metal/progressive metal band founded by the brothers Jon and Criss Oliva in 1979. The band is known for recording many rock operas. Early on, Savatage was a traditional heavy metal band, who stood out from the pack due to guitarist Criss Oliva's uncommonly heavy riffing and vocalist Jon Oliva's unique vocal stylings. Following the failure of Fight for the Rock, an attempt to commercialize their sound, Savatage began moving in a more operatic direction, releasing a number of rock opera albums in collaboration with producer Paul O'Neill.
