A Song for You Lyrics

Oh, my land is like a wild goose
Wanders all around everywhere
Trembles and it shakes 'til every tree is loose
It rolls the meadows and it rolls the nailsSo, take me down to your dance floor
And I won't mind the people when they stare
Paint a different color on your front door
And tomorrow we will still be thereJesus built a ship to sing a song to
It sails the rivers and it sails the tide
Some of my friends don't know who they belong to
Some can't get a single thing to work insideSo, take me down to your dance floor
And I won't mind the people when they stare
Paint a different color on your front door
And tomorrow we will still be thereI loved you darlin' and now I'm leaving
And I can see the sorrow in your eyes
I hope you know a lot more than you believe in
I hope the sun don't hurt you when you crySo, take me down to your dance floor
And I won't mind the people when they stare
Paint a different color on your front door

And tomorrow, we will still be there
And tomorrow, we will still be there

Whiskeytown was an alt-country band from Raleigh, North Carolina founded in 1994 and fronted by Ryan Adams along with violinist Caitlin Cary. The band produced a number of albums before ultimately parting ways in 2000. Other members of the group included guitarists Mike Daly and Phil Wandscher, bassist Steve Grothmann and drummer Skillet Gilmore. Adams and Cary have publicly talked of reuniting Whiskeytown on multiple occasions, as recently as 2005, but as of yet, nothing new has materialized. The two did perform together briefly, along with Skillet Gilmore, on June 8, 2005, in Raleigh.
