A String Of Pearls (Remastered 2002) Lyrics

Savoy, the home of sweet romance
Savoy, it wins you with a glance
Savoy, gives happy feet a chance to danceYour old form just like a clinging vine
Your lips so warm and sweet as wine
Your cheek so soft and close to mine, divineHow my heart is singing
While the band is swinging
I'm never tired of rompingAnd stomping with you at the Savoy
What joy a perfect holiday
Savoy, where we can glide and sway
Savoy, let me stomp away with youThe home of sweet romance
It wins you at a glance
Gives happy feet a chance to danceJust like a clinging vine
So soft and sweet as wine
So soft and close to mine, divineHow my heart is singing
While the band is swinging
I'm never, never, never tired of rompingAnd stomping with you at the Savoy
What joy a perfect holiday
Savoy, where we can glide and sway

Savoy, let me stomp away with you

Alton Glenn Miller was born in Clarinda, Iowa on March 1, 1904. He started his musical career when his father brought home a mandolin. As soon as possible, he traded the instrument for an old horn, which he practiced diligently. During the late 1920s and early 1930s, Miller managed to earn a living working as a freelance trombonist in several bands. His first band was formed in 1937 but failed to distinguish itself and eventually broke up.
