A Thousand Steps to Nowhere Lyrics

Iris
A thousand stepsPaperman
ObviouslyIris
The jewish cemeteryPaperman
It may come in handyIris
Let me get him. your heartPaperman
Stay here
A thousand steps to nowhere
That is all I see
This night is asking questions
Where and what for me
A thousand miles from henny
Who warned me from the start
I feel foolhardy, I miss sardi's
Thought I was so smartChorus
Down is up, up is down
That's just life in kinja town
The natives and the castaways

That's just life for me these daysHenny
I've had it with this weather
My skin is pale as bleach
I'm heading back to kinja
And stretch out on the beach
My past is in these boxes
All clean and neatly packed
No time for sorrow, I leave tomorrow
There's no turning back
No turning back, I'm island bound
I want to turn from white to brown
Sing and dance to calypso songs
Trade in this mink for a pink sarongIris
I really do admire him
And what he's taking on
This island and these crazies
But I fear he'll soon be gone
Can't let myself fall for him
A terrible mistake
He's got henny, I'm one too many
This time my heart could breakChorus
A thousand steps to nowhere
That is all I seePaperman
My heart is pounding madlyIris
Mine too, won't let me be
A thousand reasons not toPaperman
Strange but oh so true
I'm behavingIris
You're not past saving
A thing we both should doHenny
Cause he's happyDuet
Down is up, up is downHenny
I understandDuet
That's just life in kinja townHenny
Cause he's my manDuet
The natives and the castaways
That's just life for us these daysHenny
Cause he's happyDuet
Down is up, up is downHenny
I understandDuet
That's just life in kinja townHenny
Cause he's my manDuet
The natives and the castawaysEnsemble
That's just life for us these days
That's just life for us these daysPaperman
Gilbert come and prime the pump

Jimmy Buffett (born December 25, 1946 in Pascagoula, Mississippi, United States) is a singer/songwriter, best known for his "island escapism" lifestyle and music including hits such as "Margaritaville" and "Come Monday". He has a rabid, but genial, cult following known as "Parrotheads." They call the youngest members "Parakeets."

Buffett has written three No. 1 best sellers. Tales from Margaritaville and Where Is Joe Merchant? both spent over seven months on the New York Times Best Seller fiction list. His book A Pirate Looks At Fifty went straight to No. 1 on the New York Times Bestseller non-fiction list, making him one of seven authors in that list's history to have reached No. 1 on both the fiction and non-fiction lists. The other six authors who have accomplished this are Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, William Styron, Irving Wallace, Dr. Seuss and Mitch Albom. He also co-wrote two children's books, Jolly Mon and Trouble Dolls, with his eldest daughter, Savannah Jane Buffett.

"A Salty Piece of Land", was released on November 30, 2004, and included a CD single of the same title. The book was a New York Times best seller soon after its release.

His latest book, "Swine Not," hit bookshelves on May 13th. It's a colorful tale about a family that lives in a posh New York hotel while covertly smuggling in their pet pig named Rumpy.

On Jan 25, 2011, he did an unintentional stage dive whilst touring Australia. Thankfully, the good Mr. Buffett is a resilient bloke and was released from hospital the following day and doing fine.
