With nine albums to its credit and more than twelve years of existence, Colombia's Sonora Carruseles has perfected a trademark sound that is cherised by salsa lovers all over the world. There's some seriously powerful stuff to be found in their music: spidery piano lines, tight polyrythms, explosive brass riffs, staccato cowbell patterns and impossibly nasal choruses that are just hard to resist. Sonora Carruseles plays a moving tribute to the spirit of old hard-core salsa while at the same time revamping this nearly forgotten classical style.
