About a Kid Lyrics

(D. Gutter)
I swear I could be good for you
if I ever get the chance to.
I never win, you never get it
I put up with this shit but I don't have to
They can't get one more try
for pigtails and barbie doll eyes
boy you just can't tow the line
pride so low and expectations so high
life is a sucker punch packed beneath a smile
-chorus-
It's so hard to see love through this front
I'm beginning to find wine is thicker than blood
you don't see things straight when you're drunk
i'm beginning to find some damage done
love without life beats a life without love
-chorus-

Formed in Portland ME, in the early 90's, the Rustic Overtones gained popularity with funky horn-infused jams and a rock solid, rock-ready style. In their 9 years together, the band gained a passionate following with their high energy live set, tirelessly touring college campuses and local clubs up and down the east coast, sometimes playing close to 200 shows a year. Their last show, a career spanning two and a half hour set, closed out the Overtone era at the State Theater in Portland on May 11, 2002.
