Alouette & Me Lyrics

So you'd trade me in for them
When they're so mean
I wouldn't do that if I were you
Why would you say all those love things
When you knew you'd leave?
I wouldn't say that if I were youAlouette and me
I don't wanna know you lately
Alouette and me
Why did you go ruin everything? In a dream I held my head up
But I'm not brave
Let them see it, what you've done
Stultifier, you're such a liar
And you should be so ashamed
Let them see it, what you've doneAlouette and me
I don't wanna know you lately
Alouette and me
Why did you go ruin everything? But it's alright and I'm not mad
Even though I'm not there for you no moreAlouette and me

Just mark off the territory
It's the strangest thing
It doesn't hurt but I won't forget the stingBut it's alright and I'm not mad
Even though I'm not there for you no more

Letters to Cleo were an alternative rock band from Boston, Massachusetts (although they originally started out as a ska band). The band was made up of members Michael Eisenstein, Kay Hanley, Stacy Jones, Greg McKenna, Scott Riebling, and Tom Polce. Their name came from the fact that Hanley had a pen pal named Cleo when she was younger, although the letters she wrote would often be returned. Hanley kept them in a box under her bed marked "Letters to Cleo", and happened to stumble across the box as the band was attempting to think of a name for itself.
