Amazing Grace Lyrics

I took a drive today
Saw an old willow tree
I thought about a bedroom window
Thought about you and meYeah, talk about an endless summer
I'm still living it now
Burning in the heat of midnight
I'll never forget howYou would whisper
And pull me to you
Softly kiss me and
HallelujahI told you that I loved you
And watched the tears fall down your face
Your sweet face
Back in the days when you were amazing GraceYour Daddy was a Deacon at the church
I wasn't foolin' him
He knew everybook, chapter and verse
Of a young man's sinsBut what about those nights
I was just down the hall
Holdin' on to Heaven

Prayin' that we wouldn't get caught soYou would whisper
And pull me to you
Softly kiss me and
HallelujahI told you that I loved you
And watched the tears fall down your face
Your sweet face
Back in the days when you were amazing GraceOh, how sweet the sound whenYou would whisper
And pull me to you
Softly kiss me and
HallelujahI told you that I loved you
And watched the tears fall down your face
Your sweet face
Back in the days when you were amazing GraceOh, amazing Grace
Hallelujah

Phil Vassar (born May 28, 1964 in Lynchburg, Virginia) is an American country music artist, most notable for his songwriting and use of a piano as his most prominent backing instrument.

Prior to signing with Arista Records in 2000, Vassar's songwriting talent was no stranger to the airwaves, penning number-one hits for some of the most popular country artists of the late 1990s: Jo Dee Messina ("Bye, Bye" and "I'm Alright"), Alan Jackson ("Right on the Money") and Tim McGraw ("My Next Thirty Years" and "For A Little While"). He has also written songs for Collin Raye ("Little Red Rodeo") and Blackhawk ("Postmarked Birmingham").

Vassar also co-owns a piano bar outside Nashville, Tennessee, where he performed his own material prior to signing a record deal.
