Angel's Hands Lyrics

Advisory - the following lyrics contain explicit language:
She said, Ive been up all night and half-scared to death
I can smell the liquor on your breath
I paid for your rehab with my Ira
Boy, your daddy be turnin' in his graveShe said, Son Ive done all that mama can do
I can save myself but I can't save you
He said, I wished that you and Jesus would get off my back
They said his truck was doing 90 when he crashedI bet it gets so quiet in Heaven sometimes
Even God cries when an Angel's hands are tiedThey said, Honey, grown-ups do this all the time
And tears welled up in the little girls eyes
They said, Now it's something that you've done

It just that mommy and daddy don't get alongShe said, Do you guys mean that you need a time out?
And that daddy's gonna move to a different house
They said, You'll have two bedrooms, youre a lucky kid
She said, But what about Checkers, where's he gonna liveI bet it gets so quiet in Heaven sometimes
Even God cries when an Angel's hands are tiedShe prays, 'Angels watch me through the night
Stay by my side till mornin' light
God bless mama, God bless daddy
Keep us together and happyI bet it gets so quiet in Heaven sometimes
Even God cries when an Angel's hands are tied

Rodney Atkins, born March 28, 1969 in Knoxville, Tennessee, is an American country singer. He was an adopted child. As an infant at the Holston Methodist Home for Children in Greeneville, Tennessee, he was so sick that two couples who had taken him home returned him just a few days later. A third couple from Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, adopted him as well and, even though his ailments worsened, refused to give him up. His adoptive mother had been raised in a coal mining family near a tannery camp, and his dad survived an upbringing marked by poverty and episodes of abuse. Rodney is married and has a 4-year-old son named Elijah, who is featured in the video for Rodney's song "Watching You". While his career had a bit of a slow start, he subsequently achieved success with his first #1 hit (If You're Going Through Hell) and the fast climbing follow-up single (Watching You).

Songfacts.com reports that he lead-off single from Rodney Atkins' fourth album, titled Take A Back Road, finds the singer looking to leave the stress of the city. It was released on April 26, 2011.
