Another Day Borrowed Lyrics

I shook my fist at my father's rage
I cursed my mother's sadess
Whatever home I tried to call my own
Washed in to that river of madmnessThe raging surge the stagnant mire
Taste of bread embittered
Disconnected highway lines
Where souls like ours lay lividPassing through I'm passing through
I might be gone tomorrow
Wild and worn I'm hanging on
To another day borrowed
It's another day borrowedMoney never bought me peace
The aftertaste of lust is bitter
Diamonds that shine in a stolen sky
Come circling down like glitterMidnight water dark and high
It's pressing on the levee
Snakes are bound for higher ground
Me I'm almost readyPassing through I'm passing through
I might be gone tomorrow

Wild and worn I'm hanging on
To another day borrowed
It's another day borrowed

Mary Gauthier (born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1962) is an American country and folk singer/songwriter. Given up at birth by a mother she never knew, Mary was adopted. At age 15, she ran away from home and stole her parents' car, and spent the next several years in detox, halfway houses, and living with friends; she spent her 18th birthday in jail. These experiences provided fodder for her songwriting later on (particularly her song "Drag Queens in Limousines").
