Anything Lyrics

Could have been anyone could have been a woman or a man
Must have swept her away made her forget who I am
Could have been anyone could have slipped me a drug
Must have been a permanent dose to make me forget who she wasCould have been anything could have been the time we spent alone
Maybe too much time together maybe too close to the bone
Could have been anything any word I might have said
Just a look I might have given just the angle of my head, I forgetWe come we go, we say we know
We don't remember we don't remind each other
We come we go, we say we know
We don't remember, don't recognize each otherIt could have been anyone any rumor passed around
Someone made her doubt me made her head for higher ground
Could have been any gesture or word
Could have been something I misstated something
She misunderstood, I wouldWe come we go, we say we know
We don't remember we don't remind each other
We come we go, we say we know
We don't remember, don't recognize each otherMaybe this time things might work out right
Maybe this time she might catch my eye

Maybe something, something, anything could strike me blind
I might remember her and she might remember me this timeCould have been anyone anything the ring around her finger
Could have been anything any piece shattered on the way
Could have been anything anyone she'll take another lover
Could have been anything, anything, anything, anythingWe come we go, we say we know
We don't remember we don't remember
We come we go, we say we know
We don't remember, don't recognize each otherWe come we go, we say we know
We don't remember we don't remember
We come we go, we say we know
We don't remember, don't recognize each other
