The trikitixa (diatonic accordion), the alboka (double clarinet) and the mandolin characterize the particular sound of Korrontzi, a young group from the Basque Country. A musical set that is completed by percussion and bass. Korrontzi departing from the basque music tradition with their first album pay homage to the famous trikitilaris (accordion players) whose music still represents an integral part of the popular basque culture. Korrontzis stage performance can be described as both dynamic and modern creating a melodical and pulsative ambiance similar to the celtic music.

Based on the concept of Agustin Barandiarán and Mikel Romero, Korrontzi was founded in 2004. First aim declared was the conquest of their home territory. Of their following concert serie in the Basque Country shall be mentioned at least their performance at the Gexto Folk Festival and the Galdames Folk Festival.

2006 the first Korrontzi album was released. A tour in Ireland served to confirm the enthusiastic reactions of the audiences. Thereupon in Spain they participated in various festivals in Galicia, Asturias and Andalusia where they earned excellent responses.

In 2007 Korrontzi continues to proceed: taking along the tour of Artistas en Ruta they went on by giving their debut concert in Madrid (Sala Galileo). Closer attention should be deserved furthermore to their performances at Parapanda Folk (Granada), Intercéltico de Moaña (Galicia), Pardiñas Folk (Lugo), Fiestas de Gracia (Barcelona) und Plasencia Folk (Cáceres). Unforgettable remain two concerts on european stages: the live broadcasted performance at Sendesaal, Radio Bremen (Germany) as well as their unique performance at Festival Les Traversées Tatihou (Normandy)
