As Long As Harley Gets to Play Lyrics

Down in Stoneville, Mississippi
You can sure have fun
Harley Walker's got a fiddle
And Harley's brother's got a gunAll the neighbors start to gather
When the band cranks up
It's like the Grand Old Opry
On a flatbed truckYou got the Walker family
Scattered all over the place
But everything'll be okay
As long as Harley gets to playIce cold watermelon
Chicken, southern fried
The whole trailer part is rockin'
Like it's the fourth of JulyOh, the band can feel the tension
Building in the crowd
Brother Walker's gettin' restless
Oh, for cryin' out loudThe Walker family's movin'
Up close to the stage
But everything'll be okay

As long as Harley gets to playEverybody's gettin' quiet
Somethin's gotta give
Has that band gone crazy?
Why don't they get it over with?Let 'em dedicate it
To all the Walker girls
It's just the orange blossom special
It ain't the end of the worldYou'll see the whole Walker family
With a smile on their face
And everything'll be okay
As long as Harley gets to playDown in Stoneville, Mississippi
You can sure have fun
Harley Walker's got a fiddle
And Harley's brother's got a gun

Steve Azar was born and raised in Greenville, Mississippi at the entrance to the Mississippi Delta. His mother was raised above the family grocery store located on Highway 61 in Clarksdale, MS near the infamous “Crossroads”. “The Crossroads” is the intersection of Route 61 and Route 49, or the 61/49 split as they call it there, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, made famous in the Robert Johnson song, “Cross Road Blues”. This is where Delta Blues legend Robert Johnson supposedly sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for mastery of the blues, or so the story goes.
