Asleep At the Wheel Lyrics

Do you ever stop, do you count all the invitations,
At the end of the day when it comes down to one decision,
Deadbeat girls and freaks out of people's convention,
All these sugars with a no vitamin sensation.Do you ever stop, do you look over old relations,
Look to the belly of another one's emotions,
Someone young in the winds of a revolution,
Tryin' to save his face in the evolution.Asleep at the wheel,
No windshield,
But you know that the streets here don't change.
He's kept alive in the chain of a mental starvation,
Bone rail skinny only feeding off frustration,
Unlike you who seem bred from corruption,
Feeding off the plates of an un-united nation.
Asleep at the wheel,
No windshield,
But you know that the streets here don't change.
With the lover in the streets who's waiting to make a connection
To be the mother to the soul of your next abortion

She'll steal your money with the eyes of a baby's complexion,
Then she'll laugh at you and your sexual invention.Smelling like a rose in the flowers of devotion,
Devoted to the heat of a spotlight in motion.
With a face full of mud even though you were only jokin',
As if you really understood the value of isolation.Asleep at the wheel,
No windshield,
But you know that the streets here don't change.Your tongue so fast like a freight train comin' a rollin'
Every smile you give's just to keep your mouth from closin'
Every engine burns as a silently / sign of the explosion,
Locked in neutral, your engines are broken.
Like candle wax that sun melts into the ocean,
Like the moon that lights the tracks of the old train station,
You can color in the lines of a mother earth's addictions,
And not hold a gun in the face of the earth's abduction.Asleep at the wheel,
No windshield,
But you know that the streets here don't change.

Two bands have used the name "The Wallflowers":
1. An American rock band
2. A British indie rock band

1. The Wallflowers are a rock band which formed in 1989 in Los Angeles, California, United States. The band's only constant member has been singer/guitarist Jakob Dylan, the son of folk rock legend Bob Dylan. The Wallflowers have released six albums: "The Wallflowers" (1992), "Bringing Down the Horse" (1996), "Breach" (2000), "Red Letter Days" (2002), "Rebel, Sweetheart" (2005) and "Glad All Over" (2012) The band is best known for their hit singles "One Headlight", "6th Avenue Heartache", "Three Marlenas" and "The Difference", all from their second album "Bringing Down the Horse".

The original members of the Wallflowers included Jakob Dylan (vocals and guitar), Barrie Maguire (bass guitar and vocals), Peter Yanowitz (drums and percussion), Rami Jaffee (keyboards and vocals), and Tobi Miller (guitar). Peter Yanowitz and Barrie Maguire left the band shortly after the album's release and went on to join Natalie Merchant's band. The band currently consists of Jakob Dylan and Rami Jaffee with Greg Richling (bass), Stuart Mathis (guitar) and Jack Irons (drums) . Although not an original member, Richling has been in the band longer than any other member aside from Dylan, joining in 1996. Elthringham joined in 2005.

The band left Interscope Records in 2005. According to the Reboot The Mission Songfacts, "Glad All Over", The Wallflowers’ first album for over seven years will be released by Columbia on October 2, 2012. The record was recorded at Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville.

2. The Wallflowers is also the name of UK 80's indie pop/jangle band, which released a number of singles.
