Austin Lyrics

Where did all my friends go
What happened to my scene
Feels like the mephis mafia
Up and left the king
Now i've been swimming for redemption
but Im drowning in bureaucracy
I cant find exemption
From all this mediocrityand the whiskey and the women
in this town, are killing me
if i dont put new boots on
I'll never get on my feet
Ive been running with the devil
and It's gonna be hell to pay
If i dont get to austin
I swear im gonna fade awayyyyywayyy
I Swear Im gonna fade away
gonna fade awayyywayyy
I Swear im gonna fade awayNow i dont mean to bitch and judge

but baby i gotta go
Where they still play merl Haggard
and the girls love to rock and roll
And ive been looking for perspect dear
between the highway signs
but all roads lead to Texas
Y'all look me up sometimeand the whiskey and the women
in this town, are killing me
if i dont put new boots on
I'll never get on my feet
Ive been running with the devil
and It's gonna be hell to pay
If i dont get to austin
I swear im gonna fade awayyyyywayyy
I Swear Im gonna fade away
gonna fade awayyywayyy
I Swear im gonna fade awayWhiskey and women in this town
are killing me
if i dont put new boots on
Ill never get on my feet
Ive been running with the devil
and It's gonna be hell to pay
If i dont get to austin
I swear im gonna fade awayyyyywayyy
I Swear Im gonna fade away
gonna fade awayyywayyy
I Swear im gonna fade away
Gonna fade awayyyyywayyyy
I swear im gonna fade away
Gonna fade awayyyyywayyy
I swear im gonna fade awayyyy

Pat Green was born in San Antonio and raised in Waco, Texas, the eighth of nine siblings. His father was a stage actor, and Green fell in love with the musicals his father acted in. Green began his musical career when he was 18 and in college at Texas Tech in Lubbock. "I started playing guitar to pick up the chicks," Green laughs. "Before that, I only sang in the shower. I could mimic other people's voices. It took me a long time to find my own voice, but once I did, I became very comfortable with it. It's not real pretty but it's believable."
