Back In School Lyrics

I saw you standing there
With your hand in his hair
And his hand in
Your back pocket
I couldnt help but stareI wanted to tell you
That I was back in school
But in the dark of the club
I knew it wouldnt carry much weight
Well, I'm trying to learn your language
I'm trying to learn your languageI came to your party empty-handed
I came to your party, uninvited
I came to your party, a headstart on the drinkingI wanted to tell you
That I was back in school
But in the chit-chat, chit-chat should that...
Well, I'm trying to learn your language
It's like a fly learning how to bark
I'm trying to learn your language
It's like a fly learning how to barkThat smile on your face

That smile on your face
That smile on your face
I try to erase
That smile on your faceBut a kiss was not the answer
A kiss was not the answer
A drunken kiss was not the answer

Bill Callahan, born in Silver Spring, Maryland. Callahan followed the lo-fi genre of underground rock, with homemade tape-albums recorded on four track tape recorders. Later he signed a record contract with the label drag city. Callahan started out as a highly experimental artist, utilizing sub-standard instruments and recording equipment. His reason for using the lo-fi approach was not so much an aesthetic choice, rather it came from his lack of knowledge of recording studios, and fear of giving up control to professional engineers.
