Back to the Middle Lyrics

It's on this road that I'm drawn back to you
As the miles remember me as I go
It's in the silence of a night's dream
That I recall the words of devotion we spokeAnd I can't remember where our bodies roamed
I can't remember all alone
How our love got lost out in the coldBut you're the only song I hear
In this great wandering mess of my years
You're the only one I know
Who brings me back to the middleYou're the only song I hear
In this great wandering mess of my years
You're the only one I know
Who brings me back to the middleI separated all I thought I knew
In a pile of books collapsed upon my floor
I memorized the words in code and true
But I can't carry them with me no moreAnd I can't remember where our bodies roamed
I can't remember all alone
How our love got lost out in the coldBut you're the only song I hear
In this great wandering mess of my years

You're the only one I know
Who brings me back to the middleYou're the only song I hear
In this great wandering mess of my years
You're the only one I know
Who brings me back to the middleDon't tell me you've been swept away
I can't believe it about you
I won't believe it about you, noDon't tell me you've been swept away
I can't believe it about you
I won't believe it about you'Cause you're the only song I hear
In this great wandering mess of my years
You're the only one I know
Who brings me back to the middleYou're the only song I hear
In this great wandering mess of my years
You're the only one I know
Who brings me back to the middleAnd you will draw me near
When the sky opens and we appear
You'll bring me once again
Back to the middle

On their major-label debut album Stages, Vedera have at last been able to capture the magic that has made them such a hot live property over the past few years. The Kansas City, Missouri-based quartet, fronted by Kristen May, have toured incessantly since releasing their first EP in 2004, honing their sound and building their considerable fanbase the grassroots way — one fan at a time. “We’ve spent more time playing live than we probably ever will be able to spend in a studio,” guitarist Brian Little (and May’s husband) says, “and we think that’s great.
