Back to the Wall Lyrics

Stranger at the gate, let him in
Stranger at the gate, let him in
Stranger at the gate, let him in
Won't you let him in?He's been waiting on the other side
He's been waiting on the other side
He's been waiting for the turn of the tide
Won't you let him in?Promises leave you with nothing to show
Destiny leaves you with nowhere to goBack to the wall
Have you seen the light?
Is your soul worth saving?
Back to the wall
Can you pay the price
Then your life is waiting?Down by the shore
We can help you no more
Standing with our back to the wallIs your soul worth saving?
(Stranger at the gate, let him in)
(Stranger at the gate, let him in)
Have you seen the light?

(Stranger at the gate, let him in, won't you let him in?)Then your life is waiting
(He's been waiting on the other side)
(He's been waiting on the other side)
Can you pay the price?
(He's been waiting for the turn of the tide
(Won't you let him in)Promises leave you with nothing to show
Destiny leaves you with nowhere to goBack to the wall
Have you seen the light?
Is your soul worth saving?
Back to the wall
Can you pay the price
Then your life is waitingDown by the shore
We can help you no more
Standing with our back to the wall

Barclay James Harvest are an English progressive rock band. They were founded in Saddleworth, Yorkshire, United Kingdom, in September 1966 by John Lees, Les Holroyd, Stuart "Woolly" Wolstenholme (1947–2010), and Mel Pritchard (1948–2004). They are best-known for their first four albums released in quick succession from 1970-1972. The Barclay James Harvest story begins in the early sixties in the Oldham area of North-West England. John Lees and Stuart “Woolly” Wolstenholme met at Oldham Art School, and formed a band called The Sorcerers, which evolved into The Keepers.
