Banned from the Back Porch Lyrics

I stepped out into the night
Put my feet down on the wet patio floor
The sky's air had been cooling
And steam rose from everywhereI could feel drops of rain slipping off tree's leaves
Splattering to the ground
It's always misty after a summer pourAnd I'll remember turning around and looking out
And staring in, where I'm focusing [Incomprehensible] beautiful girlWhen I said, "Oh, who is this?
Where was she all those crazy years?"
And, oh, who is this?
Where was she when my heart couldn't take its beat?I sipped down warm ginger ale
Drew back a breath
And headed over to see about this girlOh, I couldn't say a thing and oh, I stared open and wide
And I connected with her eyes to feel my gut fall through the floorAnd, oh, who is this?
Where was she all those crazy years?
And, oh, who is this?
Where was she when my heart couldn't take its beat?Oh, who is this?
Where was she all those crazy years?
And, oh, who is this?

Where was she when my heart couldn't take its beat?

Saves The Day is a Rock band from Princeton, New Jersey and formed in 1994. They got together when its members were only 13, signed a label deal while still in high school, and went on to sell thousands of records, tour with blink-182 and Weezer, land songs on the playlist of Los Angeles’ KROQ, and influence countless followers. Singer-songwriter-guitarist Chris Conley’s lacerating, frequently existential lyrics provide sharp counterpoint to his sweet melodic sensibility as the band exercises their penchant for a variety of rock, punk and pop hooks.
