Be Strong Lyrics

Yeah, you got to get going, no time to be sittin' down
Some people not knowing life is a cycle
You gotta know how to get around, whoo ha
Yes you got to be strong and be all the best you can
The world is out there conquer your fears
And don't you wait too long and don't you wait too long
Hi, how ya doin'? Long time I haven't seen you
Hope you're behaving yourself now like a good behaving citizen
Nothing comes easy, you gotta work what I'm telling you
Hope and pray for the best 'cause I believe in you
Not like the stereotypes cleanliness intriguing you
Give thanks and praise for my life and for us being here
Children can't go to school the system killing us
There's good in us and we always wanna be bringin' out
(It)
Show the world what we got the struggle continues, yow
Check the conditions in which we're living, yow
Ain't no one come giving, yow, got to work to be a winner

Our children going to bed without having their dinner
Yes you got to be strong and be all the best you can
The world is out there conquer your fears
And don't you wait too long and don't you wait too long
People all filled with expectations that's fine with me
Opportunity comes but once so it's time for me
I don't think of failure because the sun shines for me
Something in the back of my head keeps reminding me
Give a listening, yuh hear? When I call
There's good and bad so just be good and stand tall
A lot of people out there wish for me to fall
I'm not scared, I pray to He who have created us all
Evils and the demons, whoo, I don't stuck with them
Hey they don't like me, hey, what's up with them?
I just can't do without Jah love because it's like the oxygen
I'm no in no folly, I don't inna no crap with them
Yes you got to be strong and be all the best you can
The world is out there conquer your fears

Matthew West is a Christian singer who was raised in a suburb of Chicago, IL., where he discovered music at an early age. The son of a minister, he grew up in the front pew listening to his mom harmonize and following her lead. By the time he reached high school, Matthew remained involved in music and received a scholarship to study music at Millikin University in Illinois.

It was during his first year of college, that Matthew began playing guitar and writing songs. By Matthew's senior year, he was playing at every venue imaginable, from Fraternity houses to churches, and youth groups.

He signed an exclusive songwriting deal only a week after graduating and making the move to Nashville. His songs have been recorded by various artists including Rachel Lampa's most recent single, "Savior Song," which was Matthew's first top-5 song as a writer. Some other highlights were having songs placed on the platinum selling WoW 2002 project and also having his song, "Heart of Every Man recorded for the World Youth Day 2000 official soundtrack.

Matthew continued pursuing his dream of singing his own songs. Matthew had the opportunity to travel to universities across the country, and quickly began building up a steady following. With the help of Word Music and Extreme Writers Group, Matthew recorded an independent CD called, "Sellout," which caught the attention of Universal South Records.

Since signing with Universal South, He has released several albums, starting with "Happy" in 2003, "History" in 2005, and "Something to Say" in 2007; along with the re-release of Sellout in 2006. The Forgiveness Songfacts reports that West's fifth album, "Into the Light," is scheduled to be released on September 25, 2012.
