Before the Poison Lyrics

Before the poison, I wasn't down
If you'd been there, if you'd been around
I couldn't hear, couldn't hear a sound
I was floating above the groundBefore the poison, I had lost my fear
Maybe too happy to even care
Safe in my dream, couldn't see the fog
Comin' on, coming from nowhere, my name to callNo more to say, nothin's comin' my way
No you, no me, no more, how can it be?
Nowhere to run, out of nowhere poison
They sense the end, what's left for you, my friend? Before the poison, I'd laugh out loud
I'd see your face in any crowd
But speak softly without fear
Hold on to me, hold me nearNo more to say, nothin's comin' my way
No you, no me, no more, how can it be?
Nowhere to run, out of nowhere poison
They sense the end, what's left for you, my friend? What's left for you, my friend?
What's left for you, my friend?
What's left for you?

Marianne Faithfull (born 29 December 1946 in London) is an English singer-songwriter and actress whose career spans more than four decades. Her early work in pop and rock music in the 1960s was overshadowed by her struggle with drug abuse in the 1970s. After a long commercial absence, she returned late in 1979 with the highly acclaimed album, Broken English. Faithfull's subsequent solo work, often critically-acclaimed, has at times been rather overshadowed by her personal history. From 1966 to 1970, she had a highly-publicised romantic relationship with Rolling Stones' lead singer Mick Jagger.
