Beginning With You Lyrics

Late last night I had a dream
That the world was a perfect place
Every street was filled with peace and love
But then I woke and rubbed my eyes
Thinking no trace of the night was left
But all day long I've been saying to myselfIf you want a world that's more loving
Then you've got to love somebody
You want to be in world that's more caring
Then reach out and help somebody
You'll make the world a better place
Beginning with youAnd if I say it loud enough
Maybe somebody else will hear
That love is still the greatest of all gifts
And if we give ourselves in love
The world will see a brighter place
'Cause it keeps time with every step we takeIf you want a world that's more loving
Then you've got to love somebody
You want to be in a world that's more caring

Then reach out and help somebody
You'll make the world a better place
Before you are through
To live in a world with more sharing
You'll just have to do more giving
If you want the earth filled with joyful noise
Then open your heart and start singing
Make this world a better place
Beginning with youThe world is you and the world is me
And it will be what we make it
Let's fill it up with so much love
There won't be room enough to take itIf you want a world that's more loving
Then you've got to love somebody
You want to be in a world that's more caring
Then reach out and help somebody
You'll make the world a better place
Before you are through
To live in a world with more sharing
You'll just have to do more giving
If you want the earth filled with joyful noise
Then open your heart and start singing
Make this world a better place
Beginning with youIf you want a world that's more loving
Then you've got to love somebody
You want to be in world that's more caring
Then reach out and help somebody
You'll make the world a better place

A native of Danville, Kentucky[1], Harris started playing the piano by age 9. His first formal vocal training came when he attended college at Western Kentucky University, from which he graduated in 1969. He later became a part of the popular Gospel touring group "The Spurlows." He gained fame with both his solo work, and his work as part of the Gaither Vocal Band, headed by Gospel musician and recording executive Bill Gaither.

Harris has received an honorary doctorate of music from Campbellsville University in central Kentucky. He was inducted into the Western Kentucky University Hall of Distinguished Alumni in 1993.

Harris, his wife Cynthia, and children Lonnie and Teresa have lived in Louisville for more than three decades. Despite his schedule, Harris serves as a deacon in his home church, and previously served as its treasurer. Harris is well-known within the Gospel music industry for his reluctance to schedule performances that take him away from his family for any length of time.
