Best Of Me Lyrics

I've been trying to forget you girl since you put me down
I hear you're working on the same thing too, all over this town
But we end up right back in the middle of a love that's tried and true
Baby if we try, try just a little, you will see how true I want to be to youYou know you always get the best of me
And I'm as helpless as a man can be
Try me baby you will see, forget about the rest
You'll always get the best of meAnd I've tried every trick I know, I drank myself dumb and blind
I've tried to Mary Lou you, Peggy Sue you, right out of my mind
As hard as I've tried I just never get it, 'cause the feeling's much too strong
Baby give my heart but though I can't let it slip away
I've got to get you back where you belongYou know you always get the best of me
And I'm as helpless as a man can be
Try me baby you will see, forget about the rest
You'll always get the best of meHear me baby and we can see that
You know I love you and I know you feel the same way
Come on back girl and you can be sure
I've got lovin' that'll make you knowYou know you always get the best of me
I'm as helpless as a man can be

Try me baby you will see, forget about the rest
You'll always get the best of meCome on back girl and you can see that
I've got lovin' that'll make you know
Come on back, whoa, try me baby, you will see
Forget about the rest, you'll always get the best of me

Huey Lewis & the News is a Academy Award-nominated American rock band based in San Francisco, California. Their greatest success was in the 1980s, when they were one of the most popular music acts of the decade and released several gold and platinum albums. The band is known for writing simple, light-hearted songs from a working-class perspective and typically appealed to yuppies and baby boomers.

Combining a rock (and sometimes, a blues rock) backing with harmony vocals and Lewis's voice, Huey Lewis & the News had numerous hit songs during the 1980s and early 1990s, including "The Power of Love" and "Back in Time" (both of which were featured in the film "Back to the Future"), "I Want a New Drug", "Doin' It All (For My Baby)", "Do You Believe in Love?" "Hip to Be Square", "Stuck With You", and "Jacob's Ladder". Huey Lewis shared three Grammy awards, an American Music Award, and a People's Choice Award along with several artists for his role singing the 1985 charity song "We Are the World".

The track 'Hip to Be Square" features prominently in the 2000 movie "American Psycho", starring Christian Bale as serial killer Patrick Bateman. In both the film and the book it was based on, Bateman is a hardcore fan of the band.
