Better Days Lyrics

In the morning when I wake up I think about
All of the crazy things that we've been through
And my mama she told me
There were gonna be days like this
And I guarantee she was tellin' the truthWhen I close my eyes I see easy
No more thuggin' just love every day
In the Heavens above with his DJ
Listenin' to music that I just madeJust wanna say a little somethin'
For the people that done passed away
Now tell me can you feel it
When you're livin' in better days?
And I pray that God'll be listenin'
If we try that we can one day be
For one time in your mind everything is alright
Untill that happens I'll be on my knees
Beggin' for a better wayAnd my background sing
Now every once in a while I remember that I
I miss my grand daddy

All the little things we sat and talked about
I wish you could see me now
From the side of my bed with my head down
To outside with my homies tippin' gin now
Seems like I got a whole lotta friends nowSo let me tell you what I'm talkin' about
And now that I got my mind made up
I ain't got no time to wait up
So I'm gonna keep givin' it way up
If you ever should think I ain't true to that
In my peoples if you with me where you at
We brought y'all backJust wanna say a little somethin'
For the people that done passed away
Now tell me can you feel it
When you're livin' in better days?
And I pray that God'll be listenin'
If we try that we can one day be
For one time in your mind everything is alright
Untill that happens I'll be on my knees
Beggin' for a better waySo break it, break it, break it, break it, break it, break it
Break it on down
Say, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
My, my, my, myJust wanna sing a little somethin', somethin'
Just wanna say a little somethin'
For the people that done passed away
Now tell me can you feel it
When you're livin' in better days?
And I pray that God'll be listenin'
If we try that we can one day be
For one time in your mind everything is alright
Untill that happens I'll be on my knees
Beggin' for a better wayJust wanna say a little somethin'
For the people that done passed away
Now tell me can you feel it
When you're livin' in better days?
And I pray that God'll be listenin'
If we try that we can one day be

Terrance Quaites is an American R&B singer, known professionally as TQ.

TQ was raised in the church (he sang in the choir) but his real education came from the streets, where the first wave of hip-hop music became the soundtrack to his life. "From Monday to Saturday I was hangin', partyin', chasing girls, getting in trouble, and straight-up acting the fool," he admits. "But on Sunday my mother dragged me out of bed to go to church. That's where I developed my singing voice and learned how to make people feel me."

TQ was never a thug in the true sense of the word: His hard-working parents instilled positive values in him, and didn't hesitate to set him straight when he was wrong. At 16, when his mom found a gun in his room, she sent the teenager to live with an aunt in Atlanta. In retrospect, says TQ, "sending me down South saved my life. It made me straighten up—for awhile, anyway."

These conflicting circumstances honed TQ's survival instincts and his passion for music. "The little money I had to buy records was spent on rap," he notes. "See, I really wasn't much into my generation's r&b. I listened more to the old-school soul that my parents had in the house. So my music now is more a combination of that and hard-core hip-hop."
