Billy Lyrics

Billy came from the east
You came from the sea
Came with a heart full of hope
And a head full of dreamsI danced in your arms
And then in your arms I did sleep
And you promised me
Never would I ever weepWake up, Billy my love
I'm goin' away
I can't stand to see you
Dyin' this wayYour dreams aren't your own, now
They belong to the habit you keep
They belong to the needle
The serum, the sleepBilly, a letter that came
Said you passed away
Arms so shot full of holes
No life they could holdI'll cut off your limbs
And bury your body at sea
And leave your arms on the shore

For the buzzards to eatBilly, you came from the east
You came from the sea
Came with a heart full of hope
And a head full of dreamsGo rest in peace, now
On the bed of the ocean you'll sleep
And you never will wake
And forever I'll weep

Suzie Ungerleider, who writes and performs as Oh Susanna, is a Canadian alternative country singer-songwriter. She was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, staring at the ocean, mountains and railroad tracks through sheets of rain. She sought refuge with song under burnt-out warehouses and in darkened clubs with the promise of guitar twang and a lonesome cry. Suzie cites a wide range of jazz, blues, pop, rock and folk influences as inspirations for her musical career. Discography
