Black tie, white noise (Here come da jazz) Lyrics

Getting my facts from a Benetton ad
Lookin' through African eyes
Lit by the glare of an L.A. fire
(Black tie, white noise)
I've got a face, not just my race
Bang, bang, I've got you babePutting on the black tie
Cranking out the white noiseSun comes up and the man goes down
Woman comes again
Just an hour or so to be safe from fear
(Black tie, white noise)
Then we jump through hoops
We're divisible now, just disappear
Putting on the black tie
Cranking out the white noiseWe reach out over race and hold each other's hands
Then die in the flames singing 'We shall overcome'
Whoa, what's going on?(There'll be some blood no doubt about it)
But we'll come through don't doubt it
(I look into your eyes and I know I won't kill you)

I look into your eyes and I know you won't kill me
You won't kill me, you won't kill me, no
But I look into your eyes and I wonder sometimesPutting on the black tie
Cranking out the white noiseOh Lord, just let him see me
Lord, Lord yeah, let him hear me
Let him call me brother
Let him put his arms around me
Let him put his hands together
Reach out over race and hold each other's hands
Walk through the night thinking we are the world
Whoa, what's going on?(There'll be some blood no doubt about it)
We should come through don't doubt it
(I looked into your eyes and I know I won't kill you)
And I turn my back for I know you won't kill me
You won't kill me, yeah, you won't kill me, no
But I wonder why, yes, I wonder why sometimesPutting on the black tie
Cranking out the white noiseThey'll show us how to break the rules
But never how to make the rules
Reduce us down to witless punks
(Black tie, white noise)
Fascist cries both black and white
Who's got the blood, who's got the gunPutting on the black tie
Cranking out the white noise
(Ooh, yeah)Cranking out
(To the [Incomprehensible])
Cranking out
(Ooh yeah)
Cranking out the white noise
(Black tie, white noise)(We be yeah)
Cranking out
(Hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo)
Cranking outPutting on the black tie
Cranking out the white noise
(Just a fool)Cranking out
(Just a fool)
Cranking out
(Just a fool)Cranking out the white noise
(Black tie, white noise)
(Just a fool)
Cranking out
(Just a fool)Cranking out
(Just a fool)

David Bowie (born David Robert Jones on 8th January 1947 in Brixton, London, UK) is an English singer, songwriter, musician, and actor. Active in six decades of popular music and frequently reinventing his music and image, Bowie is widely regarded as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. He has been cited as an influence by many musicians and is known for his distinctive voice and the intellectual depth of his work.

As a multi-instrumentalist, he is famous for playing the guitar, piano, and saxophone, but also plays the harmonica, drums, cello, marimba, bass guitar, koto, and stylophone. His first single was released in 1964, but he rose to fame with the 1969 single "Space Oddity" and the 1972 album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars. Subsequent albums have explored blue-eyed soul, electronica, and new wave, often pre-dating these genres' popularity or even the point at which they were defined as genres.

Bowie is one of the most influential rock musicians from the 1970s to the present. He has sold an estimated 136 million albums in his career and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In addition to his musical career, Bowie has had success as a painter, web-designer, sculptor, Broadway actor starring in The Elephant Man, and film actor starring in many films.

Bowie is also credited as being a major inspiration behind the new romantic, futurist movement, and subsequent development of electronic/electronica music.

Bowie frequently brings the worlds of high art, mime, and straight theatre to his stage acts. His most famous on-stage look was that of Ziggy Stardust; other personae include Halloween Jack, Aladdin Sane, and the Thin White Duke.
