Bloodletting (The Vampire Song) Lyrics

There's a crack in the mirror
And a bloodstain on the bed
There's a crack in the mirror
And a bloodstain on the bedOh, you were a vampire and baby
I'm a walkin' dead
Oh, you were a vampire and baby
I'm a walkin' deadI got the ways and means
To New Orleans
I'm goin' down by the river
Where it's warm and green
I'm gonna have drink and walk around
I got a lot to think about, oh yeah
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeahThere's a rockin' chair by the window
Down the hall
I hear somethin' there in the shadow
Down the hallOh, you were a vampire and now I am
Nothin' at all
Oh, you were a vampire and now I am

Nothin' at allI got the ways and means
To New Orleans
I'm goin' down by the river
Where it's warm and green
I'm gonna have drink and walk around
I got a lot to think about, oh yeah
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeahThey used to dance in the garden in the
Middle of the night
Dancin' out in the garden in the
Middle of the nightOh, you were a vampire
And I may never see the light
Oh, you were a vampire
And I may never see the lightI got the ways and means
To New Orleans
I'm going down by the river
Where it's warm and green
I'm gonna have drink and walk around
I got a lot to think aboutI got the ways and means
To New Orleans
I'm going down by the river
Where it's warm and green
I'm gonna have drink and walk around
I got a lot to think about, oh yeah
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah
Oh yeah, oh yeah

Concrete Blonde is an alternative rock band dating from the early 1980s to the early 1990s (and re-formed again in the 2000s). They are best known for the poignant songwriting and vocals of Johnette Napolitano. Singer / songwriter / bassist Napolitano formed the band Dream 6 with guitarist James Mankey in Los Angeles in 1982, releasing an eponymous EP in France on the Happy Hermit label in 1983. When they signed with IRS in 1986, labelmate Michael Stipe suggested the name Concrete Blonde, describing the contrast between their hard rock music and introspective lyrics.
