Blue Dress Lyrics

Put it on
And don't say a word
Put it on
The one that I prefer
Put it on
And stand before my eyes
Put it on
Please don't question why
Can you believe
Something so simple
Something so trivial
Makes me a happy man
Can't you understand?
Say you believe
Just how easy
It is to please me
Because when you learn
You'll know what makes the world turn

Put it on
I can feel so much
Put it on
I don't need to touch
Put it on
Here before my eyes
Put it on
Because you realize
And you believe
Something so worthless
Serves a purpose
It makes me a happy man
Can't you understand
Say you believe
Just how easy
It is to please me
Because when you learn
You'll know what makes the world turn

New York based singer/songwriter Libby Johnson grew up in a musical family, where from a young age she experimented with writing, playing, and singing music. By her teens she was writing songs and traveling as a performer. “We moved quite a few times during my childhood, including a five year stint in Nairobi, Kenya, and that nurtured my love of traveling” she says. After studying jazz piano and voice, Libby landed in New York, working as a session vocalist, playing piano bars, and eventually forming the band 22 Brides with her sister, singer/guitarist, Carrie Johnson in 1993. Critically-acclaimed for their blend of sixties-pop, swirling folk harmonies, and haunting lyrics, 22 Brides released three well-received albums on the Zero Hour and Universal labels and spent the 90s on the road touring.

Libby's solo debut, “Annabella,” released on indie label Wrong Records in 2006, saw her development as an artist and songwriter on her own, with four of the songs featured by director Bart Freundlich in his film “Trust The Man.” Drawing from a paintbox of the folk and blues and gigantic helpings of the Beatles she listened to growing up, Johnson’s songs are noted for their evocotive lyrics and her distinctive voice. "Annabella" went to round two of Grammy nominations in the category of “best Americana” album 2006.

Her new album "Perfect View" is releasing April, 2009 on Wrong Records.
