Blue Mountains Lyrics

Da da da
Da da da
Da da da
da daOne morning, one morning
One morning in May
I overheard a married man
To a young girl sayGo dress you up pretty Katie
And come along with me
Across the blue mountains
To the Alleghanyda da da
da da da
da da da
da daI'll buy you a horse, love
And a saddle to ride
I'll buy myself another,
To ride by your sideWe'll stop at every tavern
And drink when we're dry
Across the blue mountains

Goes my Katie and Ida da da
da da da
da da da
da daThey left before daybreak
On a (...) and rode
Past tall shivering pines
Where the mocking birds goPast dark cabin windows
Where eyes never see
Across the blue mountains
To the Alleghanyda da da
da da da
da da da
da da

Sam Amidon (real name Samuel Tear) was born in Brattleboro, Vermont, on June 3, 1981. His parents are Peter Amidon and Mary Alice Amidon, both well established folk musicians. Sam is a member of the Icelandic music collective/record label Bedroom Community. Folk music runs freely throughout the New England heartland of Vermont, and the Amidon family are a strong lifeline in that movement’s heritage. Both Sam’s parents, Peter and Mary are performers and teachers of music. Growing up in this solid environment with strong family ties most certainly set the scene for Sam’s musical trajectory.
