Bob White (Watcha Gonna Swing Tonight?) Lyrics

I was talking to the whippoorwill
He says you've got a corny trill
Bob White, whatcha gonna swing tonight?I was talking to the mockingbird
He says you are the worst he's heard
Bob White, whatcha gonna swing tonight?Even the owl tells me you're foul singing those lullaby notes
Don't be a bring down if you can swing down
Give me those high notesThere's a lotta talk about you, Bob
And they're saying you're off the cob
Fake it, Mister B
Take it, follow me, Bob WhiteI was talking to the whippoorwill
He says you've got a corny trill
Bob White, whatcha gonna swing tonight?I was talking to the mockingbird
He says you are the worst he's heard
Bob White, whatcha gonna swing tonight?Even the owl tells me you're foul singing those lullaby notes
Don't be a bring down if you can swing down
Give me those high notesThere's a lotta talk about you, Bob
And they're saying you're off the cob
Fake it, Mister B

You better take it, follow me, Bob WhiteWe're gonna break it up tonight
We're gonna break it up tonight

Carmen Mercedes McRae (1920-1994) was a U.S. jazz singer, songwriter, and pianist. McRae was born in Harlem, New York, on the 8th April 1920, and studied piano as a child. As a teenager she came to the attention of Teddy Wilson and his wife, the composer Irene Kitchings Wilson. Through their influence, one of McRae’s early songs, "Dream of Life", was recorded by Wilson’s longtime collaborator Billie Holiday.
