Burnin' the Midnight Oil (2016 Remastered) Lyrics

Shoulda listened to someone
Love has gone, I've got nowhere to run
I shoulda listened to someone
Love has gone, I've got nowhere to runShe's gone and I know
That the pain is beginnin' to show
I'm hurting insideMy world fell apart
But love's still burning in my heart
But where can I hide?Love turned to stone
And I'm tired of bein' alone
Yeah, burnin' the midnight oil
Yeah, burnin' the midnight oilThere's a voice in my head
Runnin' over everything she said
And I can't erase itLove was a game
Well, I lost and it's a cryin' shame
But I gotta face it.Nowhere to go
And time is moving slow
Yeah, burnin' the midnight oil
Yeah, burnin', burnin' the midnight oilHot water getting ready to boil

Drink coffee 'til my nerves are wired
I'm so high, I think I'll never be tired
Feeling sad and I'm mad, all the bad luck that I've hadShoulda listened to someone
Love has gone, I've got nowhere to run
I shoulda listened to someone
Love has gone, I've got nowhere to runShoulda listened to someone
Love has gone, I've got nowhere to run
I shoulda listened to someone
Love has gone, I've got nowhere to runI'll lay back on my bed
Memories runnin' through my head
I tried to forgetThe clock's striking twelve
I'm still trying to convince myself
It's not over yetLove turned to stone
And I'm tired of bein' alone
Yea, burnin' the midnight oil
Yea-ee-yea, burnin' the midnight oil

In the late 1960s, Roger Earl and Lonesome Dave Peverett first toured America as members of the seminal British band Savoy Brown . Together with guitarist Kim Simmonds, Savoy Brown was on the cutting edge of the emerging British blues-rock scene, and they influenced countless musicians on both sides of the Atlantic. In 1971, wanting to give a more rock 'n roll flavour to the blues-boogie music they were playing with Savoy, Dave and Roger enlisted lead/slide guitarist Rod Price and bassist Tony Stevens, formed a new band, Foghat.
