By Myself Lyrics

What do I do to ignore them behind me?
Do I follow my instincts blindly?
Do I hide my pride from these bad dreams
And give in to sad thoughts that are maddening?Do I sit here and try to stand it?
Or do I try to catch them red-handed?
Do I trust some and get fooled by phoniness
Or do I trust nobody and live in loneliness?Because I cant hold on when Im stretched so thin
I make the right moves but Im lost within
I put on my daily facade but then
I just end up getting hurt againBy myself, I ask why, but in my mind
I find I cant rely on myself
I ask why, but in my mind
I find I cant rely on myselfI cant hold on
(To what I want when Im stretched so thin)
Its all too much to take in
I cant hold on
(To anything watching everything spin)
With thoughts of failure sinking inIf I turn my back Im defenseless

And to go blindly seems senseless
If I hide my pride and let it all go on then theyll
Take from me til everything is goneIf I let them go Ill be outdone
But if I try to catch them Ill be outrun
If Im killed by the questions like a cancer
Then Ill be buried in the silence of the answerBy myself, I ask why, but in my mind
I find I cant rely on myself
I ask why, but in my mind
I find I cant rely on myselfI cant hold on
(To what I want when Im stretched so thin)
Its all too much to take in
I cant hold on
(To anything watching everything spin)
With thoughts of failure sinking inHow do you think, Ive lost so much?
Im so afraid, Im out of touch
How do you expect, I will know what to do?
When all I know is what you tell me toDont you know, I cant tell you how to make it go?
No matter what I do, how hard I try
I cant seem to convince myself why
Im stuck on the outsideDont you know, I cant tell you how to make it go?
No matter what I do, how hard I try
I cant seem to convince myself why
Im stuck on the outsideI cant hold on
(To what I want when Im stretched so thin)
Its all too much to take in
I cant hold on
(To anything watching everything spin)
With thoughts of failure sinking inI cant hold on
(To what I want when Im stretched so thin)
Its all too much to take in
I cant hold on
(To anything watching everything spin)
With thoughts of failure sinking

Linkin Park is an American band from Agoura Hills, California. Formed in 1996, the band rose to international fame with their debut album, Hybrid Theory, which was certified Diamond by the RIAA in 2005 and multi-platinum in several other countries. Its following studio album, Meteora, continued the band's success, topping the Billboard 200 album chart in 2003, and was followed by extensive touring and charity work around the world. In 2003, MTV2 named Linkin Park the sixth greatest band of the music video era and the third best of the new millennium behind Oasis and Coldplay.

Having adapted the nu metal and rap metal genres to a radio-friendly yet densely layered style in Hybrid Theory and Meteora, the band explored other genres in their next studio album, Minutes to Midnight, which was released in 2007. The album topped the Billboard charts and had the third best debut week of any album that year. The band has collaborated with several other artists, most notably with rapper Jay-Z in their mashup EP Collision Course, and many others included on Reanimation.
