California Lyrics

When I came back home
From the USA
I had nothin' in my pockets
And not a lot to sayThough I knew somehow
We would meet real soonBut the way, you've been avoidin' me
It's like I'm livin' on the moon
Here I am on this side of the stars
Livin' in CaliforniaAnd sometimes
I get out of reach in the bars
Dreamin' about my life
And maybe one day, I'll take a wifeThough I spent some time
On the evil road
I've done things that I'm ashamed of
Oh man, it's such a heavy loadThough I knew somehow
We would meet real soonBut the way, you've been avoidin' me
It's like I'm livin' on the moon
Here I am on this side of the stars
Livin' in CaliforniaAnd sometimes, I get out of reach in the bars

Dreamin' about my life
And maybe one day, I'll take a wife
Oh, I miss you girlYour dreams are more than I can take
You are the love of my life
But I could be my biggest mistake
Ah babe, my heart's turnin' like a wheelI feel emotion for you
But I just can't tell if it's real
When I came back home from the USA
I had nothin' in my pockets and not a lot to sayThough I knew somehow
We would meet real soonBut the way you've been avoidin' me
It's like I'm livin' on the moon
Here I am on this side of the stars
Livin' in CaliforniaAnd sometimes I get out of reach in the bars
Dreamin' about my life
And maybe one day, I'll take a wife
Oh, ooh baby, oh, I miss you girl

The Babys can refer to either the popular British rock group of the 1970s or the Japanese rock band. 1. The Babys (British) The pop rock band's name was chosen to give them a greater chance of a recording contract as they felt companies were leaning towards the teen market. They released their eponymous first album in 1976 and quickly followed it up with 'Broken Heart' the following year. The cover of 'Broken Heart'- with the group members in glossy make-up- may have been part of the aforementioned marketing ploy.
