Can Heaven Wait (Harris & Cox Club Banger) Lyrics

Quarter after seven, got a phone call
Telling me to get here quick
Said your girl is in a bad situation
They don't know if she's gonna make itAs I hurry to be by her side
I ask a thousand times, why oh why
There's no rhyme or reason in my life
With you lying here this wayI'd give anything just to trade places with you
So I'm begging heaven down on my knees
To help you make it throughTell me can heaven wait
Can heaven wait just one more night
Tell me what it's gonna take
To keep you with me in my lifeGiving up the shame of my other life
Now I'm seeing things in a whole new light
Lord, I vow to change if you just make it right
Can heaven wait one nightThinking back on times that I've wasted
I should have cherished every day
All the different flavors that I tasted
Can't compare to you, no wayAs I reminisce by your side

Tears of guilt are streaming from my eyes
All the things I did that weren't right
Wish I could apologizeI'd give anything if I could trade places with you
So I'm beggin' heaven down on my knees
To help you make it throughTell me can heaven wait
Can heaven wait just one more night
Tell me what it's gonna take
To keep you with me in my lifeI'm gonna stop the world, reverse the time
Do whatever it takes to keep you alive
Heaven has to wait one more dayBaby, take my breath so you can breathe
I need you here so don't you leave
Heaven has to waitTell me can heaven wait
Can heaven wait just one more night
Tell me what it's gonna take
To keep you with me in my lifeTell me can heaven wait
Can heaven wait just one more night
Tell me what it's gonna take
To keep you with me in my life

Luther Ronzoni Vandross (April 20, 1951 - July 1, 2005) was an american soul and rnb singer whose career spanned four decades.

In the 70s, he worked as a backing singer Chic and for David Bowie (on the Young Americans album). He later found success as a solo artist with Superstar and A House Is Not A Home.

In the 80s, Vandross was a vocalist on early Change singles (Searching), whilst continuing his solo career with such releases as "Never Too Much", "Power Of Love/Love Power", "If Only For One Night", "Here And Now".

In the 90s, he was more famous for duets with Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey (amongst others), than for his solo work.

It was an ongoing battle with his weight that may have ultimately proved his undoing. He suffered a stroke in 2003, from which he never really recovered, and died in 2005.

During his career, he sold 25 million albums and won eight Grammy awards including Best Male R&B Vocal Performance four times. He won four Grammy awards in 2004, including the Grammy Award for Song of the Year for the track "Dance With My Father," co-written with Richard Marx.
