Canvas Lyrics

This alarm clock, it chains me to the sunrise
So let me wipe the sleep from my eyes
Help me find a better view
Are you still sleeping
On your blankets thick with disguise
Will you wake up with a surprise
'Cause I ain't lying next to youBut it doesn't matter 'cause real soon you're gonna see a side of me
Either way it sure ain't what you wanna see
But, baby, please what can we do?CHORUS:
And you said,
"This mattress is a canvas,
So let's pour ourselves upon it
Paint a picture of our love."
But I'm tired
I ain't got no time for finger paint
And my patient stare is growing faint
We won't always stay this young
I said, "maybe you're right, but you'll never look old to me tonight."Woke up this morning with your imprint on the bed sheet

You roll over to expect me
But it's clear that I am gone
You're so lonely 'cause you waited on your own for me
No, what a bother this can all be
But I'll never seem so wrongBut it doesn't matter 'cause real soon you're gonna see a side of me
After every day what do you think we'll be,
We've been holding on for far too longREPEAT CHORUS

With a staggering voice and a gift for poignant melodies and innovative arrangements, Madi Diaz is folding her roots, pop and indie influences into her own paper airplane. Diaz was raised and home-schooled in Pennsylvania's rural Lancaster county, the daughter of a musician (her father Eric Svalgard plays keyboards in the noted Frank Zappa cover band Project/Object) and a schoolteacher, Nancy Diaz.
