Carbon Lyrics

A million points of light
Ascending to the sky
Monuments in darkness
Standing watch until the sun will riseScreaming to an emptiness
How we dignified ourselves
With our hands over our eyes
Claiming all of creationWhat inspires in us this madness
That our existence should be defined
By a light that can't be seen by anyoneWhat inspires in us this madness
That our existence should be defined
By a light that we can't see
The light that can't be seenA million points of light
Ascending to the sky
Monuments in darkness
Standing watch until the sun will riseI can't, I can't see this all as progress
How did we come this far?
When we see ourselves as deities
Claim nature for ourselvesBy our actions we betray

The instincts in our race
By our blindness and stupidity
We kill everything, we kill everythingCan someone see our self-destruction?
Are we reminding ourselves
That our existence is so delicate
That without this light we are no more
That without this light we've made we are no moreA million points of light
Ascending to the sky
Monuments in darkness
Standing watch until the sun will riseWe torch the earth until it bleeds
Rain ashes from the sky
Just to make a light that no one can seeWe cut the earth until it bleeds
Rain ashes from the sky
Just to make a light that no one can see
Just to make a light, just to make a lightWe kill everything
By our blindness and stupidity
We kill everythingIn ten thousand years, what will be our legacy?
A million lights that no one can see
A million points of light

VNV Nation is an electronic music group formed in London in 1990, now based in Hamburg, Germany, that combines elements of trance, synthpop and electronic body music (ebm) into what they call futurepop. VNV Nation began as a one man project from Ronan Harris. In 1995 Mark Jackson joined the band permanently as a live drummer. VNV Nation's inspiration was originally the clash of the modern and classical European cultures, where mythology and technology live in an uneasy fusion, but this has since broadened to encompass a world view.
