Catch and Release Lyrics

Oh Rosie, won't you visit me?
I'm in a bad way, and I can't seem to shake it.
Remember the one with eyes like the sun?
It turns out I was wrongI wish I could say it had gone my way,
But instead I've just been waiting in vain.
I keep playing the record foreward and back,
And it's driving me mad. But, I was a fool to believe,
To blind to see
I'm just a pawn in a game of catch and release.Every time he cut the line,
I thought I'd make it out alive
Until he'd reel me in just to toss me back
And he did it with a smile.
Oh Rose, you'd know just what to say.
It's not like me to get this bent out of shape,
But I was chasing a dream down a one way street
And now it's out of sight.I guess some people don't want the real thing.
You wouldn't recognize it if all you've seen is a
Photograph of a painting

On a pixilated screen.I was a fool to believe,
To blind to see
I'm just a pawn in a game of catch and release.Every time he cut the line,
I thought i'd make it out alive
Until he'd reel me in just to toss me back
And he did it with a smile.
They said, "Hold your tongue;
Save some face;
Keep the secrets to yourself."
But it's a man's world, and he got the last word
So, I had to write it down. There's a lesson to be learned in all of this,
And that's all he gave to me.
Victory is learning how to bow out gracefully.
Don't hold your breathe,
The future's always hand-in-hand with fate
And part of growing up is knowing when to walk awayEvery time you cut the line,
I thought i'd make it out alive
Until you'd reel me in just to toss me back
And you it with a smile. So I'll cut my ties,
I won't count the loss,
The sun was bound to setNow, you get to be the fool in a game where no one wins
It's just a game where no one wins
It's just a game where no one
Game where no one
No one wins

Over the past year The Wild Reeds have transformed from a three part harmony driven band to a full indie folk rock force that has been sweeping the West Coast. In 2013 they toured California multiple times playing festivals such as Make Music Pasadena, Echo Park Rising, Claremont Folk Festival, Lightning in a Bottle, and successfully captured large audiences every Monday night in December with their Holiday Residency at The Satellite.

On August 9th, 2014 the band will be releasing their formal debut album, Blind and Brave, which was produced by Raymond Richards at Red Rockets Glare (Parson Redheads, Honey Honey, Local Natives, Dustbowl Revival). The album release will kick off during a very special show at the historic Troubadour.

Currently the members of The Wild Reeds hold up the fort all over California, from Koreatown to Highland Park to Hollywood – coming together to rehearse right in the heart of Hollywood. Together they are strong advocates for California, specifically Los Angeles.

Blind and Brave illustrates the story of the working class, and encourages listeners to genuinely care about the place they inhabit, keep it beautiful, connect with people, and be brave. The message found in these songs is that you have to get through the hard stuff to get to the good stuff, just as you have to go through the bad parts of town to find the best parts, whether it be a venue down an old dark alley way, or a friend’s house at the top of a hill. In everything you do, do it out of love.

With their debut album to be released August 2014 and a bright future ahead, we can only expect great things from The Wild Reeds this year. They will be joining Newport Folk Festival’s sister of the west, Way Over Yonder in September with artists such as Jackson Brown, Local Natives, Lucinda Williams, and speak of plans to tour the West this fall.
