Cattle Drive Lyrics

Hired me on a greenhornFmaj7
Didn't know a rope from a horseG6
But I wanted to be a cowboyAm
So I took the job of courseThe foreman he said "Son you gonna rideFmaj7
At the end of my herd"G6
All the wranglers sat around in a circleAm
And nobody said a wordFmaj7
'Cause there's a woman in my dreamsG6
That keeps me aliveFmaj7
If I ever see her againE Am
Lord I'll never ride drag on another cattle driveSolo: Am Fmaj7 G6 Am Am Fmaj7 G6 AmAm
There's a rumor goin' roundFmaj7
That we're near a Kansas City townG6
And when you're ridin drag on this cattle driveAm
It takes 'bout a week for the word to get aroundFmaj7
'Cause there's a woman in my dreamsG6
That keeps me aliveFmaj7
If I ever see her againE Am

Lord I'll never ride drag on another cattle driveOutro: Am Fmaj7 G6 Am

The Marshall Tucker Band is a Southern rock band. Originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina, the band formed in 1972, and soon signed with Capricorn Records. In 1973 they released their first EP, simply titled 'The Marshall Tucker band. Compared to southern rock pioneers and label-mates The Allman Brothers Band, Marshall Tucker had a more country and western feel, with the flute being a key lead instrument in their sound.
