Children Of The Grounds Lyrics

There were too many years
Under spells awry
As the fortune appears
It begins to die
So I've come here to wait
For the end of it all
Till I'm gone from here
I'm gone from hereChildren of the grounds
Are making warring sounds
For those outside
With no care for time
They're full of love for lifeMother calling out
To bring the end around
We weren't quite done
She blames it on the sunWe're raised in a town
Where they jump on your back and sing
Leave an imprint on your shoulder blades
Wanna walk away

We're not all the same in this townWe're raised in a town
Where they jump on your back like children
And they leave you none
They will leave you noneAnd we're all undone in this town
And we're all undone in this townThere were too many years
Under spells awry
As the fortune appears
It begins to dieSo I've come here to wait
For the end of it all
Till I'm gone from here
I'm gone from hereI'm gone
I'm gone

Midlake is an American rock band from Denton, Texas, that formed in 1999. The band first gained popularity in Europe. Midlake began in 1999 by a group of jazz students at the University of North Texas. The original lineup consisted of Tim Smith (vocals, guitars, keyboards), McKenzie Smith (drums), Paul Alexander (bass), Eric Nichelson (guitar), and Evan Jacobs (keyboards). Their initial work (under the working name The Cornbread All-Stars) consisted of funk/jazz explorations heavily influenced by Herbie Hancock.
