Clyde Lyrics

(J. J. Cale)Clyde played electric bass
Played it with finesse and grace
Sat on the porch ain't got no shoes
Pickin' the bass and singin' the bluesMisery loves company
That ol' dog sings harmony
Tambourine tied to his tail
You can hear him howl, you can hear him wailC'mon Clyde
Clyde played electric bass, Clyde played electric bass
Clyde played electric bass, electric bass
Electric bass
C'mon Clyde, C'mon ClydePickin' the bass 'n' singin' the blues
Singin' the blues, singin' the blues, singin' the bluesYeah yeah yeah yeahOh YeahGeordie girl she got the dollar
Down the road you can hear her holler
C'mon Clyde there's things that need doin'
Clyde keeps pickin' and singin' the bluesHe don't careClyde played electric bass
Played it with finesse and grace
Sat on the porch ain't got no shoes
Pickin' the bass and singin' the bluesC'mon Clyde, c'mon Clyde, c'mon Clyde

Dr. Hook (& The Medicine Show) were formed in Union City, New Jersey, USA in 1968. The original lineup consisted of Ray Sawyer, Dennis Locorierre, Bill Francis, John David and George Cummings - although there were countless lineup changes over the years.

Two years after Sawyer left in 1983 the band split up. Since then Sawyer has begun touring as "Dr Hook featuring Ray Sawyer" and Locorierre has also promoted himself as "The voice of Dr Hook".

Trivia: In a live webcast performance from Atlanta Bon Jovi performed "Sylvia's Mother" by Dr Hook - declaring the song "One we should have written".
